Reader here, and it’s amazing how quickly time passes, when you think about it.
The reason I say that, is because this year, I’m marking a couple of milestones.
At the end of August, I celebrated 20 years with the company, and November 1st marked 15 years of waking up with you guys on the morning show at 94.1 on your FM dial (95.3 in Swan River, 102.9 Wapella!)
I started as an intern in the GX94 newsroom in May of 2006, as a fresh-faced 28-year-old kid straight out of Western Academy Broadcasting College in Saskatoon.

Look at that young pup!
After my first two-and-a-half years as a reporter/anchor in the GX94 newsroom, I moved into the afternoon anchor spot on GX, where I worked until becoming the full-time morning show co-host on our FM side, on November 1, 2011, where I’ve been ever since!
It’s wild to think about how much has happened over the past 20 years, having the opportunity to do lots of different things.
I’ve had the opportunity to cover everything from city council meetings, court cases and community events, to helping out with the sports department, to filling in on Sask Ag Today on the news side.
On the morning show side, I’ve been lucky enough to interview numerous community members, artists and help promote a ton of community events. I’ve been able to introduce lots of great artists onstage, volunteer to help out with events, help give away lots of fun prizes, and meet so many fantastic people, from all walks of life. I’ve even had the chance to do fun things like MC the RCMP Musical Ride in Swan River, fire off t-shirt cannons, and drive some frickin’ monster trucks!
- Hanging out with Canadian blues-rocker Colin James on board the 2017 CPKC Holiday Train!
- Getting ready to fire some t-shirts into the crowd!
- Can you believe they let me drive this thing?!?!
But some of the most rewarding stuff has been being part of such fantastic events such as the “Airwaves for Health” Radiothon, in support of the Health Foundation of East Central Saskatchewan, the Langenburg Sporting Dreams Lotto, and the annual Swan Valley Sport Fishing Enhancement Banquet, helping in my very small way, to tell the stories and help spread the word about the work that goes on every day, to make sure our communities grow and thrive, and continue to be wonderful places to be.

Me and the Cruzmobile at the Northwest Roundup in Swan River!
And on top of that, over my 20 years living in working in Yorkton, the best part is that I’ve had the opportunity to work with so many fantastic people, and make so many wonderful friends, both on the job and outside of work, and I consider myself so very fortunate in that respect.
I do want to take a second to thank my morning show co-hosts over the years – Will, Nik, Avery, Eddie Q, and now Grayson, for making my mornings so much fun over the past 15 years, and the best part? There’s more fun to come, and I can’t wait to see what the future brings!
As I say, being in Yorkton for the past 20 years, I’ve lived here longer than I’ve lived anywhere else, which is wild to think about. And it’s been awesome!
I’m pretty fortunate to be able to live in a fantastic community, and have the career that I do. And you know what? I’m looking forward to waking up with you all for a long time to come!

Just hanging out in the Cruz studio… Home sweet home!
You all are the best, and I can’t wait to keep on having fun and making memorable moments with you all for years to come!
