Reader here!
Now, I think it’s no secret that the relationship between Canada and the United States over the past few years is a little more, shall we say, topsy-turvy.
Tariffs and taunts from U.S. President Donald Trump have brought Canadians together in annoyance.
The Commander-in-Chief keeps threatening to make Canada the 51st state (not now, not ever, Donny!), and he ramped up the stupidity earlier this year, by proclaiming Lake Ontario to be re-named “Lake America.”
The nonsense does not seem to be stopping anytime soon.
Now, with things like this happening, it’s only natural that one way people will react and respond, is through art.
And one guy who’s riled up, is Bryan Adams!
He’s announced that he’s got a new album coming out on November 6th, called “How’s It Goin’.”
(I like to think he called the album that, in honour of SCTV’s Bob and Doug McKenzie!)
From his description of the album, it’s basically a love letter to his home and native land.
He says it started when he wrote a song for a recent documentary, and it blossomed into something bigger.
Here’s the track-listing:
How’s it Goin’
Highway 16
Diesel & Dirt
The Battle Of Lundy’s Lane
The Ballad Of Terry Fox
51st State
When Canada Joined Newfoundland
A Handful Of Gold
Iron Ribbon
The Bridge
Canada’s Wild Eastern Edge
Heave Away
Lake Ontario *
* digital album bonus track
It looks like he’ll be telling some great Canadian stories, but a couple of the tracks are aimed at you-know-who down south.
One, is called “Lake Ontario.”
He’s not mincing words there, is he?
Even more to the point, is “51st State.”
I’ll definitely have to give the whole album a listen when it comes out next week!
