Reader here! Have you ever been out and about, and come across something that gives you random flashbacks to your childhood?
When I was a kid, my brothers and I had an Atari 2600 video game system, and one of the games we had was “Berzerk,” that came out back in 1980. It was a game in which you basically go around blasting robots, while trying to avoid the big bouncing smiley face, known as “Evil Otto,” who could kill you just by bouncing into you. We also used to play the sequel, “Frenzy,” on ColecoVision, when we’d visit our cousin Derek in Saskatoon.
It was always a blast, but if there’s one thing lodged in my mind, it’s the big baddie, Evil Otto.
Well, last night, I was at the Yorkton Regional High School for band practice, and while making a trip to the washroom, I came upon this giant Halloween decoration…
As soon as I saw the huge Jack O’Lantern, it gave me Evil Otto flashbacks!
- Behold the surprisingly friendly-looking “Evil Otto” from 1980’s “Berzerk, on the Atari 2600 game system!
- …And behold this giant Jack O’Lantern I ran into at YRHS! Seems kinda similar to Evil Otto, am I right?
You never know where you might run into something that gives you fun flashbacks to when you were a kid, but I got a kick out of this!
