Doomsday has a trailer and if anything’s certain from it: all of the costume budget went to Doctor Doom. The armour, the robes, the mask, everything about the look is solid even if it doesn’t really look like any specific comic appearance. There’s worse things than being inaccurate after all, like we see later in the trailer!
We also got a closer look at the X-Men, but there are two that I wanted to bring special attention to just because of how funny the choices being made are. Patrick Stewart’s Professor X has gone from wearing sharp 3-piece suits to militaria chic decorated with what looks to be a Hot Topic iron-on X-Men patch.
And Mystique is just… ugh. They’re obviously trying to go for a “comic accurate” look, but the comic look is a dress with multiple cut-outs to show skin that have been inexplicably replaced with blue pleather panels. Presumably this was a comfort choice for the actor, but at that point just make it a plain white outfit instead of having a weird faux-cleavage diamond in the chest.
All in all, an absolutely incomprehensible looking movie that will still make a billion dollars. Let’s go!
