I love my van. I certainly have to with all the work it needs doing, but it’s nice to just relax with some of the little fixes every once in awhile. For instance, my console. Prior to my owning it, it had cracked and been poorly fixed by the previous owner.

Unsightly to say the least. So I patched it up with my plastic welder (you can see further adventures with that in a past post), but it wasn’t the prettiest fix. Luckily I have a pristine, even nicer model of console from my parts van. Bad news is that it’s that tannish-brown colour that people thought looked luxurious back in the 80s. Ugly.

So my solution? I’ve got a broken one I’m already planning on replacing, why not see how it takes paint? The answer turned out to be “very well” so now I’ve got a cute lil red console that matches the paint job on the exterior. You can see how nicely it looks installed at the top of the page. Now, I was also planning on doing the grab handles to match, but as we can see outside it’s not exactly the best weather for that. Oh well, maybe next time!
