This time of year tends to be big on fireworks for the obvious reasons, so I figured I’d talk about some of my favourites!
Fireworks come in a huge variety, each offering a different effect and vibe for celebrations. Roman candles are a staple—they shoot colorful balls of fire one after another, making them a favorite for backyard displays. Aerial shells are the big showstoppers, detonating high above with effects like peonies (those round, full bursts), willows (which leave trails that hang and droop), and palms that look like tropical trees against the night sky.
Ground-based options include fountains, which spray sparks and colors in every direction, and cakes, which are pre-loaded multi-shot displays that send up a choreographed sequence of effects. Sparklers keep things interactive—perfect for kids or anyone who wants to be part of the action. Smoke bombs are all about the visuals, flooding the area with thick, colored clouds.
