Reader here, and like most of you, I do love a good bargain.
This is a great time of year to find them, as since spring is pretty much here to stay (knock on wood), that means garage sale and flea market season is underway!
I haven’t been out to check out any garage sales yet, but I did make my way to the Gallagher Centre curling rink this past Saturday, for the city-wide flea market.
It’s an event I always like to go to, as when you look around, there’s a little bit of everything, and you never quite know what you might come across.
Before I made my way to the Gallagher Centre, I stopped and grabbed a bit of cash, in case I found something I wanted.
Well, I hadn’t been in the place more than five minutes, when I came across a table jam-packed with “Star Wars” toys!
The kid in me couldn’t resist, and for $60, I was able to add Darth Vader’s TIE Fighter and Luke Skywalker’s X-Wing Fighter to my collection!
- I found Lord Vader’s TIE Fighter…
- …and Luke Skywalker’s X-Wing Fighter!
Nowadays, it’s a case of “want” versus “need,” when it comes to how I spend my money.
But sometimes, you have to treat yourself, and if you find something that makes you happy, and isn’t going to break the bank, why not go for it?
I’m just glad I didn’t have more cash on me at the flea market, because at that table alone, I could’ve blown a whole lot more money!
When I was a kid, I had a few Star Wars toys, but they all got busted up. After all, when we’re kids, we’re too busy playing with those toys, to think about having them later to display, or to buy and sell. The original packaging is gone, pieces are missing, and we’re too busy having fun.
But sometimes, you need a little hit of nostalgia, to make you think back to when life was much simpler.
Make sure you keep your eyes open, when you hit up your local garage sales, flea markets or secondhand stores. You might just find some treasures that transport you back in time!
