Reader here, and I’m a happy camper!
Why?
Because after my six-month checkup and cleaning at the yesterday, barring an emergency (knock on wood), I don’t don’t have to make another trip to the dentist until November!
Not that I really mind going, it’s just that obviously, like most of you, I prefer to go as little as possible!
It’s really something how the dental technology has evolved over the years, especially when it comes to something as simple as a cleaning.
They still use a variety of metal hooks (that all look the same to me), but now, they also blast the plaque along the gumline away with what seems to be a super high-powered water pik!
And remember what it used to be like, when it was time for flouride? You’d get to choose the flavour, and then they’d load the gel into a boxing-style mouthguard, before popping it into your mouth for what always seemed like waaaaaaay more than a minute or two. Thank goodness for that little suction tool, because inevitably, the goo would start running out of the mold, and you’d have to suck it up before it started running down your throat!
Now, when it comes to flouride, they basically just paint it onto your teeth, give it a minute or so to set, and you’re good to go!
As a kid, I used to get pretty worked up before trips to the dentist. Now? I pretty much doze off in the chair.
Not gonna lie… I actually wouldn’t mind a dentist chair of my own for my home – I actually find them pretty comfy!
One other byproduct of my trips to the dentist, is that I have accumulated a large supply of toothbrushes over the years.
The floss and toothpaste they always send me on my way with goes pretty quick. On the other hand, I don’t go through my toothbrushes so quickly.
I s’pose I should work my way through them more quickly, but I stretch out my brushes for a long time. I figure that if the bristles are still stiff, there’s still life in the toothbrush.
Trouble is, if I don’t get using my stock of toothbrushes, I’ll soon have a drawer full of ’em!

Well, I shouldn’t have to buy a toothbrush for the next few years!
At least I won’t have to worry about getting another one until my next visit!
Until then, I’ll keep brushing, flossing and picking, to keep my teeth in good shape!
