Good morning! Reader here, and, well, I’m not feeling so hot.
I made it through the entire (extended) winter staying relatively healthy, but now, Spring has pretty much (hopefully) arrived to stay, and something was lying in wait…
The Spring Cold.
It started rather innocuously on Monday, with a constant tickle in my chest and slight cough.
But Tuesday, much like a cheetah waiting to pounce on an unsuspecting gazelle, the cold hit me. Hard.
Coughing away. Plugged up nose and sinuses. Sore throat and stiff neck. Feeling achy all over.
I guess it had to hit me some time.
Needless to say, by the time I left work yesterday, all that was on my mind was soup, meds, nap. In that order.
I got myself a big bowl of beef ramen and crushed that, then went home, downed some Emergen-C, liberally applied Vicks VapoRub to my chest, throat, nose and under my eyes, and proceeded to crash out on the couch for about five hours.
That’ll pretty much be the plan for today, as well.

My arsenal, as I try to fight off this dreaded “Spring Cold.” Not pictured: Vicks VapoRub. Lots and lots of Vicks VapoRub!
I know I sound like I’m moaning a bit. The typical “Man Cold,” where every little symptom seems like the biggest thing in the world, putting me down for the count.
Well, all you can do is get on with things. There’s no time to be sick, with work to do and places to go. The show must go on!
Especially with the Swan Valley Sport Fishing Enhancement 39th annual Fish Fry and Fundraising Banquet coming up on Saturday. That’s always a great time, not to mention a superb meal. I’m not missing out on that!
Not to mention that I’ll be on the road next Wednesday, doing the show live from McDonald’s, for McHappy Day on May 6.
And Grayson is off most of next week, so I’ll be covering the show solo while he’s away. Like I said, there’s no time to be sick – there’s too much to do.
To all of you who have fought off this bug, or are still dealing with it now, I’m with you. Let’s take care of ourselves and make sure we’re back up and ready to roll in no time.
And if you have any get well tips, I’d love to hear ’em!
