Reader here, and I’m back in Langenburg, for the final ticket Sporting Dreams Lotto early bird ticket blitz!
This is Year #2 of the Sporting Dreams Lotto, which is raising money to build a new Multiplex to serve residents of Langenburg and the surrounding area.
Over the past couple of days, I’ve been joined on air by JoAnn McDonnell, Langenburg’s Director of Sport, Leisure, Culture and Promotion, as well as former mayor Don Fogg, and they noted that the current rink and rec facilities have served the community very well over the years, it’s now at the point that the rising cost of upkeep and repairs means replacement is a more viable option than repair and refurbishment.
And with a new facility comes new possibilities. The main pieces of a new Multiplex would feature a new rink, which would have a concrete pad underneath it, rather than sand, as is the case in the current arena, which means the new facility’s ice surface could be used year-round, even when the ice is out, for everything from indoor soccer to trade shows.
Other possibilities for the Multiplex include long an indoor walking track, that would allow residents to get their steps in in climate-controlled comfort 12 months a year, as well as indoor multi-use spaces that can be used for sports such as pickleball, archery, baseball, and so much more, along with cultural and community events.
A new facility would offer more sport, recreation and cultural activities, that would benefit the entire community, for generations to come.
In fact, on Tuesday night, Langenburg Town Council recognized the importance of a new Multiplex, by making a major financial commitment: a total of one million dollars, over five years!
You’ve got to dream big to make a project of this magnitude a reality. Town Council is stepping up, and we can do our part, by buying our lotto tickets.
In case you’ve forgotten (or you haven’t heard me talking about it for the last couple of days), here’s what you could win with this year’s lotto:

By the way, congratulations to the winners of the early bird draws, which were made on February 21st.
Randy Park of Calgary won the $3,000 early bird prize, while Tracey Schmidt of Melville was the lucky winner of the previous buyer’s draw, for an awesome set of patio furniture!
Meanwhile, this Saturday, April 4th, the grand prize draws will be made at 3 p.m., at the Langenburg Community Centre.
The headliner? Well, the lucky winner of the grand prize draw will get their choice: take $100,000 in cash, or choose from one of tweo awesome trucks: a 2025 Ford F-150 four-wheel-drive Supercrew Tremor, or a 2025 GMC Sierra 1500 four-wheel-drive Crew Cab!
But wait! There’s more! There’s a second prize draw for $10,000, along with eight $1,000 prizes up for grabs.
And as the draws are made, the winning tickets go back into the draw drum, so you could win multiple times! Wouldn’t that be awesome?
Along with those ten prizes, there’s also the growing 50/50 jackpot. Last year, the winner took home $26,000. The pot is still growing – how big will it get this year?
Best of all, when you buy your tickets, it’s a win-win, as not only do you have a chance to win those fantastic big-time cash prizes, but you’ll be helping to build an amazing facility, that will leave a lasting legacy for years to come, helping to build a stringer, healthier community. What could be better?
Today is the FINAL DAY to get your tickets. Make sure you call 1-306-743-5177 before 6:30 p.m. tonight to get your tickets by phone. After that, the phone crew won’t be taking any more calls, and if you don’t have your tickets by then, you’re outta luck!
By the way, I have to give a massive shoutout to the amazing volunteer crew who have given their time to answer the phones, write up ticket orders, bring snacks, tell jokes and stories, and keep everything running smoothly. Not only that, we’ve had a fantastically fun time doing it, too! We’ve been laughing our way through the first couple of days of the ticket blitz. These are some fantastic people, who care deeply about their community, and are working hard to make it a better place.
And I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention my fantastic co-worker, partner in crime and close friend, the one and only Tonya Cherry – one of my favourite people, and long-time midday host for our sister station, GX94. We always have a great time working together when we’re on location for these lotteries, and I’ve gotta say we make a pretty darn good team!

Don’t forget, you can also grab your tickets in person at the Town Office and get your tickets in person, or use the e-transfer option. Email your ticket order to mulitplexlang@outlook.com (including your name, phone number and ticket order).
However you get your tickets, don’t miss your opportunity to win big, and help bring a brand-new Multiplex to Langenburg, to serve the community for generations to come!
Good luck to you! And to me, too! (Oh yeah, you better believe I’ve got my tickets – I want to win just like you!)
