Sometimes, I find myself looking for quick silly things that make me smile or laugh, when I need a quick pick-me-up.
Maybe it’s a quick funny video on social media, or a well-timed text from a friend or family member, that happens to tickle my funny bone.
But one thing that always come through on that front, and it’s silly… is googly eyes!
Several years ago, I bought a bag of assorted sized googly eyes, including a big set that I still have never made use of. (I’ve really gotta brainstorm and find a spot to use those bad boys!)
I don’t know what it is, but the sight of anything with googly eyes makes everything at least 57% funnier. (Don’t check my math!)
Sometimes, it’s a sketch on “Saturday Night Live,” like this one, featuring one of my favourite current cast members, Sarah Sherman!
Or this masterpiece, featuring the often imitated, but never duplicated Christopher Walken!
Not only is the sheer amount of googly eyes on full display epic in this sketch, but hearing Walken’s uniquely-pronounced “GOOG-uh-lee” over and over again, worth the views alone!
I even have a photo of myself with googly eyes!
And, to this day, Grayson and I are under constant surveillance in the Cruz studio but this rock-solid security guard…
Of course, my love for all things googly goes way back to when I was a kid, to Sesame Street, and a Muppet who loves to eat as much as I do…

And to this day, as a loyal Philadelphia Flyers fan, we’re represented by the best mascot in sports (yeah, I said it!), the one and only Gritty!
Gotta love Gritty. At least we Flyer fans certainly do!
Googly eyes – a prescription for easy laughs for young and old! At least they work for me, every time!
