Reader here, and in case you missed it, after much anticipation, the headliners were revealed Friday for the Living Skies Music Festival which will make its Yorkton debut on Aug. 14-15, at the Yorkton Exhibition Grounds!
The festival is into its third year in Humboldt, but this year, it’s expanding and coming to Yorkton!
I was joined by Tarell Sterner with the festival, along with Yorkton Mayor Aaron Kienle, as they told us all about it!
That’s a pretty fantastic lineup!
On the country side, you’ve got Dallas Smith, the former lead singer of Default, and a major hitmaker on his own in the country world. As well, Langenburg’s own Jess Moskaluke, and Darryl Anderson, the SCMA’s 2024 Emerging Artist of the Year, will also take the stage on Aug. 14!
Then, rock takes over the stage on Aug. 15, with Econoline Crush, Big Sugar and the Crash Test Dummies!
Econoline Crush is awesome! I first saw them at Edgefest in Saskatoon, back in 1998, and I saw them again a few years ago, when they played at Holly’s here in Yorkton! (RIP to the Dome!)
Big Sugar are going to be bringing their carload of hits to Yorkton, from Turn the Lights On,” “All Hell for a Basement,” “If I Had My Way,” and this beauty…
You know Gordie Johnson and company are going to put on a heck of a show!
And, of course, the Crash Test Dummies!
That big, booming bass voice of Brad Roberts, the sweet sounds of Ellen Reid, and so many hits, from “Superman’s Song,” “Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm,” “God Shuffled His Feet,” “Keep a Lid on Things,” “The Ballad of Peter Pumpkinhead,”:and one of my personal faves, “Afternoons & Coffeespoons!”
I also personally feel their rendition of the Christmas classic “The First Noel” is the absolute best, but I think it might be a bit much to ask them to play it in the middle of August!

Mayor Kienle says City Council has been looking to bring a live music event like this to the city for some time now, and he says the goal is to establish it as a legacy event, that will grow and prosper, and become a staple event in the city for years to come.
Not only will there be music, but there’ll also be food trucks and on-site camping – it’s going to be one heck of a weekend!
Don’t miss out – limited presale tickets are available now at https://livingskiesmusicfestival.com/!
