The Things That Keep Me Broke

It’s not surprising that I’m into lego, and videogames (I certainly talk about them enough) and so it’s not surprising that I immediately put in a pre-order for the Lego Gameboy the moment it was announced. I mean, just look at the thing.

Not only did they go the full nine yards replicating the classic Gameboy look (down to what look like brand new pieces for the fuchsia buttons) but the screens even “work” to an extent.

That’s right, they’ve got that nifty lenticular effect like all the cool trading cards and comic books had back in the day. The only real sticking point is the $80 price tag which, for most people, sounds reasonably crazy for a non-working replica hunk of plastic made out of smaller hunks of plastic. But to people who regularly buy Lego, it seems almost reasonable (in a stockholm syndrome kinda way).

Pre-orders are open now at lego.com, let me know in the comments whether this is an instant buy or a pass for you!
