Last night’s Oscars were a wild ride, with “One Battle After Another” taking home Best Picture and racking up major wins for Best Director (Paul Thomas Anderson), Best Supporting Actor (Sean Penn), Best Editing, Casting, and Adapted Screenplay. Seriously, the film cleaned up. Jessie Buckley snagged Best Actress for “Hamnet,” while Michael B. Jordan and Ryan Coogler picked up their first Oscars with Best Actor and Best Original Screenplay respectively for “Sinners,” which also scored wins for Cinematography, and Score.
Big props to “Frankenstein” for taking home Production Design, Makeup & Hairstyling, and Costume Design. If you’re as in love with presentation as I am, it’s definitely one to watch if you missed it last year. Meanwhile, “KPop Demon Hunters” danced away with Best Animated Feature and Original Song with “Golden”. Stellan Skarsgard didn’t end up winning for Best Supporting Actor, but still brought a win Norway’s way with “Sentimental Value” nabbing Best International Feature.
