YORKTON – The Yorkton Fire Department is calling on residents to help name its newest fire truck.

From November 12 to 23, community members are invited to submit creative, meaningful name suggestions for the department’s newest addition.

The winning name will be announced during a special Naming and Truck Push-In Ceremony at the Yorkton Fire Hall on November 26 at 10:30 a.m.

Yorkton residents can submit their entries by emailing communications@yorkton.ca with the subject line “Fire Truck Name Contest.”

Each email should include the proposed name, the entrant’s full name, and contact information. Participants are also welcome to share a brief explanation of their choice.

To keep the contest fun and fair, the city says entries must be original, family-friendly, and reflect community pride or fire service values such as bravery and teamwork.

Only one entry per person will be accepted, and submissions that duplicate others or contain inappropriate content will not be considered.

A judging panel made up of members from Yorkton Fire and the City of Yorkton will select the winning name based on creativity and fit.

The winner will be invited to the November 26 ceremony and will receive a ride on the newly named fire truck.

Residents are also encouraged to take a moment to check their home fire safety — testing smoke alarms, reviewing escape plans, and ensuring clear exits.
