YORKTON – More than 1,000 charitable and nonprofit organizations across Saskatchewan are getting a financial boost from Lotteries and Gaming Saskatchewan, including several in the Yorkton and Melville area.

Nearly $2.2 million in charitable gaming grants were distributed provincewide in the second quarter of the 2025-26 fiscal year, with roughly $103,000 going to community groups in the Yorkton-Melville region.

“These grants are one of the ways our government delivers for the people of Saskatchewan,” said Jeremy Harrison, minister responsible for Lotteries and Gaming Saskatchewan. “This latest round of grants helped support more than 1,000 charitable and nonprofit organizations involved in a diverse range of activities, including arts, culture and sport, hospital foundations, service clubs and more.”

The funding supports groups that hold licensed charitable gaming events such as bingos, raffles, break-open ticket sales, and Texas hold ’em tournaments. Each eligible organization receives 25 per cent of the net revenue raised from these events, up to a maximum of $100,000 per year.

Provincewide, the largest shares of funding went to Saskatoon-based groups, which received about $490,000, and Regina-area organizations, which received roughly $370,000. Other regions benefiting include Prince Albert and the area with more than $188,000; Swift Current, with about $133,000; and Humboldt and Melfort, with more than $132,000.

Harrison said the program continues to play an important role in sustaining local initiatives, from sports and recreation to health care and community development.

“These grants help keep small organizations strong and ensure that communities across Saskatchewan can continue to thrive,” he said.
