Aren’t gift cards a handy thing to have in your pocket? Something to tuck away for a rainy day, when you’re a bit short on cash, but you still need to grab a bite to eat, a tank of gas, or some household essentials?
I recently received a gift card from Legacy Co-op, and when I stuck it in my wallet, I found a couple of Timmies gift cards, as well!
Maybe I’ll have to save those for a day when I don’t feel like making lunch.
The point is, gift cards can come in awfully handy, especially as, well, gifts!
They especially come in handy when you’re under the gun, in a time crunch, and you don’t have a lot of time to get out and do any shopping.
The last couple of years, I’ve given gift cards to my brothers, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephew. It’s not my first choice. Certainly not the most creative or sentimental gift, I admit, but I at least try to gear them toward everybody’s interests or needs, whether it’s crafts, books, sporting goods, food, tools or more.
That way, they can use it toward something they’d really like.
Nowadays, especially with the kids, it can be really hard to know what to get them, so this works very well. That said, I usually get them something else to go along with the gift card, so it’s not JUST the card.
And nowadays, you can get gift cards for just about everything, from restaurants to streaming services, video games, ride services and a ton of other things.
How about you? Are you someone who goes that route when it comes to gift-giving?
Maybe this holiday season, I’ll get off my butt, be a little more on the ball, and get going on my shopping sooner, rather than later. After all… Christmas is already NEXT MONTH!
Cheers to the simple, all-purpose gift card… valuable and handy!
