Reader here!
Well, after all of the anticipation, after a couple months of hype and taking entries, last night was the big night, as we found out who was the big winner of Cruz FM’s “5K the Easy Way!”
For the past few months, we gave listeners the chance to enter in at the participating businesses that teamed up with us on the contest. There were posters with a special QR code on them, and to enter the contest, listeners just had to scan the QR code, fill out some information, and presto – you’re in! Easy peasy!
Out of all the entries, 11 finalists were selected, and they got the invitation to last night’s VIP bash at the Painted Hand Casino, where a reverse draw was held.
What is a reverse draw? Simple.
All of the finalists got a numbered bingo ball, that went into the draw drum. One by one, a ball was drawn, and when your ball was pulled, it meant you were eliminated. When it got down to two balls left, the next ball selected was the last person eliminated, and the last ball remaining was the winner!
Here’s how the reverse draw went down…

And there you have it! Congratulations to our lucky winner, Doug Kurtenbach, of Inglis, Manitoba! Grayson and I had the pleasure of presenting Doug and his wife Shelly with that big cheque for five thousand dollars!

Being able to give away a prize like this is definitely one of the best parts of the job!
Here are some more shots from a great evening!
