Shoutout to the students over at Concordia University: they built and launched the biggest student rocket ever, right here in Canada. It blasted off at 5:34 a.m. local time August 15th. And not only is it the biggest student built rocket ever, but if it crossed the 100km altitude threshold, it’s also Canada’s first space launch period in 25 years. This rocket took seven years and over 700 students to put together. They built it at school, packed it up, and drove it nine hours north. The first two launches got cancelled because of the weather, but the third time worked.
Now, they’re still poring over the data to see if it actually hit space, but still, even if it didn’t, this is still a huge win. Watch the video below to see the launch for yourself.
