Reader here! Hope you all had a great weekend.
I know that for a few folks, it was a better weekend than expected, as the winners were drawn Friday, for the Health Foundation of East Central Saskatchewan’s “$1,000 a Week for a Year” Cash Lottery! (Lottery Licence LR24-0122)
Me and my pal Tonya from our sister station GX94 spent a three days at the Health Foundation office on May 14-16 during the final ticket push, and the place was hopping!
- My base of operations at the Health Foundation office!
- HF Executive Director Ross Fisher working the phones!
- Ross and Debbie from the HF taking ticket calls
- Hanging out at the Health Foundation office!
It was busy, not only because you guys wanted to get your tickets and have a chance to win, but because of your desire to support local health care, by helping the Foundation raise the money they need to purchase needed medical equipment, expand training opportunities, and improve facilities and treatment programs in East Central Saskatchewan!
I know I had my tickets, and was hoping for the call on Friday that I was one of the winners. Alas, Lady Luck was not on my side this time around.
Were you one of the lucky winners? Here’s the list of those whose names were drawn on Friday:

Congratulations to all of the lucky winners!
But of course, big winners or not, we all win in the end, as the money raised through the lotto supports the great work of the Health Foundation. They’ve always got a number of projects on the go, with the goal of improving health care for everyone in the region.
The big project they’re working to complete right now? The expansion of the cancer care unit at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre.
A reminder of what that entails…
Firstly, the chemo unit will be moving from the third floor of the hospital to the first floor, creating far more space to work with, allowing for an enlargement of the infusion therapy area, providing the opportunity for patients with Crohn’s Disease and colitis to also get infusion therapy treatment.
As well the expansion will allow for another 60 treatments a month, meaning that the waiting list for patients requiring treatment can be cleared. Over the past three years, the number of patients receiving cancer treatment at the Yorkton Hospital from across our listening area, has risen by ten per cent. so to clear the waiting list would be HUGE!
Once the expansion is finished, the Yorkton Regional Health Centre will be handling the most cancer patients for Saskatchewan, outside Saskatoon and Regina.
There are a number of other ways throughout the year to support the Health Foundation, through events such as their Charity Golf Classic and Road Race, the annual gala, and the “Airwaves for Health Radiothon” and “Farming for Health.”
Of course, you can also simply make a donation, either in person at the Health Foundation office at 41 Betts Avenue in Yorkton or online, by clicking this link: https://thehealthfoundation.ca/make-a-donation-1
Once again, congratulations to all of the luck winners in the “$1,000 a Week for a Year” Cash Lotto, and thank you for your support of the Health Foundation!
