Reader here, and I made it!
I have graduated from the 2024 “Learn to Run” clinics with the Yorkton Pacers Running Club, as we gear up for the Health Foundation Charity Road Race.
We were supposed to have done our “Graduation Run” last Tuesday night which consisted of running the course that we’ll tackle on race day.
Tradition is, we do our grad run, then head out for supper afterwards.
Well, I rained pretty steadily all afternoon, and was still raining by the time we were to run.
So instead, we skipped the run, and went straight for supper!
While we were enjoying a bite to eat and some refreshments, Coach Bernie handed out our certificates!
So now, I’m certified to run.
But I won’t lie… my training had been more sporadic than I’d like.
With holiday time, and general business, I haven’t gotten out on the track as much as I’d like.
Fortunately, there’s just shy of two months before the big race, which is set for Sunday, August 18th.
The formal “Learn to Run” clinics have wrapped up, but there’ll still be some dedicated runners hitting the track every Tuesday and Thursday.
And I’ll be going out running, whether it’s with a group or on my own, to ensure I’m race ready.
It’s all about self-discipline, and putting my mind to getting the job done!
Don’t forget – there’s still time to sign up for the Road Race.
You can do so in person at the Health Foundation Office, at 41 Betts Avenue.
